2011 Datu Bago Awardees revealed!



One of the highlights of the 74rd Araw ng Dabaw celebration, the award is an accolade for persons of any nationality, living or dead, born in Davao City or who have been residents of the city for at least 10 years.

The winners, as announced by Datu Bago Awardees Organization chair Mother Assumpta David, RVM are:

  • Antonio B. Arellano,

  • Bishop Fernando Capalla,

  • Carmelina Vosotros-Francia,

  • Mario Leofer Madrazo Lim,

  • Rogelio Lomada Lizada (posthumous),

  • Guillermo Jr. Pilpil Torres.


 

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio bestowed the award to the winners during a ceremony on March 14 at the Royal Mandaya Hotel, attended by the city's top officials, religious and civic leaders.

 

Datu Bago Award is the most prestigious and highest award to be given by Davao City government to a resident in recognition of his or her achievements.

"Araw ng Dabaw" Jobs Fair on March 11-12, 2010 at NCCC Mall!



Over 30  local employers and job placement agencies will bring Dabawenyos their
dream jobs for the "Trabaho Para Sa Dabawenyo: an Araw ng Dabaw Job Fair"on March
11-12, 2010.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI and the NCCC Group of Companies
will bring together banking, real estate, agriculture, manufacturing, and
information technology (IT) firms at the Activity Center of NCCC Mall Davao.

Various job positions from Toyota Davao, Banco De Oro, Phoenix Petroleum
Philippines, Lapanday Foods Corporation, the NCCC Group among other companies will
offer on-site interviews and exams from 9am to 6pm.

Administrative personnel,  electricians, service mechanics, store crews, farm
assistants, business development and account officers, as well as encoders, tellers
and relationship officers are some of the vacancies.

Applicants must bring copies of their resume, recent identical 1x1 and 2x2 photos,
and applicable school or employment records ( i.e, transcript of grades, diploma,

2010 "Araw ng Dabaw" official events this week!


This year's theme is "Katatagan ay Kapangyarihan: Pagpapatibay at Pagdiriwang!"

In celebration of the 73rd Araw ng Dabaw, the City Government of Davao in
partnership with the Davao Light and Power Company, kicks off the official events of
the city's charter anniversary starting March 8, 2010, Monday with the opening of
the "Mag-Negosyo ta Day Fair Trade" at the SP Lobby and the Agri-Trade Fair and
Exhibit at SM City Davao.

"Mag-Negosyo ta Day Fair Trade" is open to the public until March 16 while the
Agri-Trade Fair will run until March 21.

On March 9, Tuesday, 4 PM, the top 5 finalists of the 2010 Mutya ng Dabaw will
present their Community Projects at SM City Davao Event Centre. The community
project is part of the program of the winning Mutya ng Dabaw. The ladies will
finally vie for the crown for this year's Mutya ng Dabaw on March 15, Monday, 7 PM
at CAP Auditorium.

Various cultural events are also in store in this week's celebration
starting with the opening of reinvented Museo Dabawenyo on March 12, Friday , 2PM and will
be followed by "SaliDabaw", an annual music-video competition open to all
Davao-based video artists, at 4PM in Gaisano Mall of Davao.
The highly anticipated "Sayawan sa Dan" will be on March 13, Saturday at 3PM
in Peoples' Park.

Taking the celebration to the streets with food and music galore is the "Kaon Ta
Day, Lingaw Ta Bay!
" along Bolton Street (beside Sanguniang Panlungsod) from March
12 to 16.
The nightly street party opens at 5 PM daily.

Datu Bago Awards, the highest award bestowed by the City Government of Davao on a
resident of Davao City in recognition of his or her achievements in certain fields,
will finally be given to highly respected and deserving Dabawenyos on March 14,
Sunday, 6 PM
at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.

On "Araw ng Dabaw", March 16, Tuesday, Dabawenyos will start the celebration with a
Thanksgiving Mass at 7 AM at the San Pedro Cathedral. This will be followed by the
ParaDabawenyo along the city's main thoroughfares at 8 AM; Banda Hudyaka in Rizal
Park at 3 PM;
and the "Pakonsiyerto ni Mayor Rody ug Inday Sara at Rizal Park"
(featuring Spongecola and Maui Taylor)  at 8 PM.

2010 Datu Bago Awards Nomination is now open!

The Datu Bago Award is the highest award bestowed by the City Government of Davao on a resident of Davao City in recognition of his or her achievements in certain fields. The nominations for 2010 Datu Bago Awards is now officially open. The awards will be given on Araw ng Dabaw Celebration next year.

Since Datu Bago Foundation (DBF) Inc.  institution in 1969, during the mayorship of Elias B. Lopez, a total of 143 individuals have been bestowed with the city's most prestigious award. Some of the prominent awardees include:

  • Soledad "Nanay Soling" R. Duterte,

  • Antonio O. Floirendo,

  • Tomas Monteverde,

  • Jesus V. Ayala,

  • Emilio Palma Gil,

  • Patria G. Montemayor,

  • Aida Rivera Ford,

  • Msgr. Clovis Thibault, PME.


The search is open to all persons of any nationality, living or dead, born in Davao City or who have been residents of Davao City for at least 10 years.


He or she must have demonstrated exemplary competence and dedication in the service towards Davao City's development. He or she must have served as a model of excellence and an inspiration to the residents of Davao City.


A person must be nominated by a person residing in or an organization operating in Davao City. A living nominee must accept the nomination before he/she can be considered for the award. Previous nominees who have not been recipients of the award may still qualify.


Deadline for submission of nominees, including all documentary requirements, is on January 15, 2010.


All nominations will be received by the Datu Bago Foundation Inc. President, Mother Ma. Assumpta M. David, RVM at the University of the Immaculate Conception, Fr. Selga Street, Davao City.
